  • Children can use two bags to collect candy.  One bag for people they know, and one for people they don't know.
  • Costumes should be bright, with reflective tape, and should not impair vision.
  • Police Departments do NOT x-ray candy.  Police Departments do not usually have a x-ray machine on property.
  • It is much safer to go to a mall or house party instead of trick or treating.
  • If trick or treating is occurring, go with an adult, take a flashlight, and stay on a route that is agreed upon in advance.
  • Set a time limit for children to trick-or-treat.  Map out a safe route with your children.  Emphasize that no short cuts through other people's property are allowed.
  • Children should not enter a strange home or car alone!
  • Only eat unopened candy in the original wrapper.
  • Leave your exterior lights on to welcome trick-or-treaters.
  • Drive slowly through the neighborhood all evening!
