- Children can use two bags
to collect candy. One bag for people they know, and one for people
they don't know.
- Costumes should be bright, with reflective
tape, and should not impair vision.
- Police Departments do NOT x-ray candy.
Police Departments do not usually have a x-ray machine on
property.

It is much safer to go to a mall or house
party instead of trick or treating.
- If trick or treating is occurring, go with
an adult, take a flashlight, and stay on a route that is agreed upon in
advance.

Set a time limit for children to
trick-or-treat. Map out a safe route with your children.
Emphasize that no short cuts through other people's property are
allowed.
- Children should not enter a strange home or
car alone!
- Only eat unopened candy in the original
wrapper.
- Leave your exterior lights on to welcome
trick-or-treaters.
- Drive slowly through the neighborhood all
evening!
